Fangirl and The Music Industry

This is just a night thoughts that suddenly popped out in my head. So, just as you know I’ve been a fangirl for years. Moving from one fandom to another, found out that one of the longest fandom I’ve ever been is the fandom of this Cody Simpson.

Yes, you might ever see him on tv, and if you haven’t then lemme tell you, he’s a musician fyi. Been fangirling for him for about 5 years since I was 13. Found out yesterday that the fandom has been DISPERSED! Pretty surprising since I moved from the fandom about two years ago, and now these all are over. Though I’m not in this fandom anymore it feels like I’ve lost a family.
From my perspective, there’re some reasons why did this happen. The artist himself has out from his old label to get him “FREE”. Apparently he confess that his old label give him so many strict silly rules. He said that he can make any music that he wanted, make a performance that he wanted, and so on. Well, cody appeared in 2010 at the age of 13 with some Bieber’s shadow. Yup, the hair, music, backup dancers, fancy costumes in every performance. No wonder, lotta girl who need a new fresh thing are coming closer (I probably won’t say this at that time lol). Being popular in a shadow of someone else probably doesn’t make him that comfortable. I presume that he spoke to the label that he wanted his OWN music that time.
In 2012 his music are all changed, and so his appearance, it’s more HIM I think, although the dance and fancy performance are still there. A lot better I admit, me as someone outside the circle thought that he’s already found his vibe. But I was wrong, big wrong. After produce one more album in 2013 and a total silence in 2014, he decided to get out of the label in 2015. That was pretty shocked me and my screaming pals (read- fangirls). In 2015 he produced some music from a new label that let him go with his own choice. But the result is far from the expectation. Why? I expect here’s why. The consumers of him (and his music) for the first go are teenage girls, the new music that he produce are not a familiar friend for their ears. Different, nice, but still they prefer modern pop kind of things. And those dirty words and swearing doesn’t fit them, But gaining new listener with a total different type in a short time is not an easy task. or simply he make a music for the wrong consumer. That reason makes those teenage girls are one by one packed their bag and left the fandom.
As I grown up, and be a bit of a part of the industry, and also seeing more teenage heartrob doesn’t feeling right, I see the truth that all these time I was just crushing over a puppet doll, someone that doesn’t really exist, just a mask on someone else’s face. In this case we can’t blame anyone, the old label knows better about the business, turning a 13 years old chap to be dollars is a big opportunity, good for them, and good for him. Collect teenage girls as the consumers is an instant way to get more money, they are super enthusiastic, and won’t think deep. There’s nothing wrong about it that’s how the industry works. But as cody grown up he realized that he was turned into their doll, so he made his own decision, but unfortunately, still he didn’t understand well about the rough industry. So that’s what happened now. Oh, and what about me? Well I keep go on with my journey. In a new fandom that I also sure is a part of the industry’s drama.

How to Get Noticed by Celebrities in Social Media

Many people or specifically "fangirls" outside there are dying to get noticed by their celebrity crush (well, I'm one of them tho). But unfortunately it's not as easy as blinking our eyes to get a single notification from them. Lots of us have tried for months or even years but got nothing. I know the struggle :(
But after I saw the truth, I begun to know what to do, and celebs are start to notice me. So here's the tips to get noticed by your celebs crush:

1. Use Popular Social Media
go active in some social media that give you the biggest chance to get noticed. From what I've seen, celebs are more likely use Twitter, Facebook and Youtube to get interact with their fans. They probably run others social media like Instagram or Snapchat but they barely reply or follow fans there. And ofc the first step you have to do is to follow them on those social media. It gives you bigger chance to get noticed, although in fact sometimes they follow random people who don't even follow them.

2. Avoid spamming!
Mention your celebs crush account is the basic thing to do when we want to get noticed, but some of those people are doing it the wrong way.
This is the example of spamming, (I took Dylan O'Brien as my victim lol)
(p.s. I deleted those tweets immediately)
Them who do spamming are usually make their tweet as long as possible with many enters and tabs, so the tweet will seem bigger. they sent the exact same tweet (and add some numbers) for multiple times. Some of those tweets are included death or self-harm threat.
Spamming could make the celeb uncomfortable and you'll got a potential of being blocked. This can also annoy your followers who follow the celebs. your tweets will fill up their timeline and block the others tweet. You can also get teased or unfollowed by your friends.

2. Send interesting tweets instead.
Instead just saying "Follow me" to them, send something more interesting. Include one or two questions if it possible. By doing this the possibility of getting noticed is bigger. You're not only got a possibility of being followed but probably got replied or retweeted or liked.
And it works for me! (lots of time)

3. Mention them at the right time
Mention them when they're online. Watch their last tweet sent time, if it's new tweet then there's a possibility that they're still online and you might get noticed. The more rarely they online, the smaller chance to get noticed. That's why sometimes I choose to not mentioning celebs who are rarely active. From what I've seen actors are more "inactive" than popstars and musiscians, but that's not a guarantee. keep trying!

4. Understand about your celeb crush
Some of fangirls are already know what their idols favorite things and stuffs, and you better say something about it. For example Caspar Lee loves Friday and Pizza, then tweet something related to Friday or Pizza

5. Give a compliment
You know, everyone loves compliment, so do the stars. It can be about their looks, their works, their stuffs, or everything. Or just simply tell them that you love them (in a creative way obv)

6. Join a followspree
Sometimes celebs are doing a followspree to promote their work. They usually want their followers to make some hashtag to promote their new music, movie, video, etc and follow some of the people who tweet them up. It's the easiest way to do to get a follow, moreover if you immediately make the hashtag when the followspree was just started but when more people are involved, moreover when the hashtag already become the trending topic it's kinda harder to get noticed.

7. Join the Q and A or livestream
Some Celebrities are sometimes do a Q and A section, where you ask them questions and they try to answer them with direct reply or by another platform like YouTube or Vine. All you have to do is just to make some questions as creative as possible, so your question might get chosen.
They sometimes also do the livestram in some platform like Facebook Livestream, Twitter, YouNow, Periscope, etc. and sometimes they get interactive with the viewers by answering some comments. The only skill that needed when you join a livestream is the ability of fast typing lol because there'll be hundreds of comments come out at the same time. The faster and the more comments you can make, the more chance you'll get noticed.
(I asked Alli Simpson to kiss her toe in a Q and A section)

So, that's just a bit of thing that you can do if you want to get noticed by your celebrity crush. I hope this article would help. Thanks you and good luck!
